This free program is available to all Alachua County residents who give birth within the county. After your baby is born, a registered nurse (RN) will visit you at home to see how you are doing, share information and connect you to local resources.

How does it work?

Within a week after baby is born, a registered nurse visits the family at home to see how they are doing, share information and connect them to services and resources. The nurse provides a physical and health assessment for baby and mom, and offers information and tips for caring for your baby.

All Alachua County women who give birth at a hospital, birth center or home within the county.

Our Partnership

NewboRN Home Visiting is overseen by Healthy Start of North Central Florida Coalition, an affiliate partner of WellFlorida Council, and is a collaboration between hospitals, childbirth providers and social service agencies throughout the county. Supported by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County.

Home Visit with a Nurse

A registered nurse (RN) will visit you in your home after baby is born

Health Assessments

Physical and health assessment for mom and baby at your home visit

Parenting Education

Information on topics such as caring for baby, safe sleep, and family planning

Breastfeeding Support

Our nurses are trained to help address breastfeeding concerns

Infant Safety Classes

Free Infant CPR and choking prevention classes for participating families

Community Resources

Help with needed resources like clothing, financial assistance, and transportation
